TYPICAL SYMPTOMS:
- Dryer keeps shutting off prematurely.
- Laundry room/area is noticeably warmer than the rest of the home.
- Laundry loads are taking longer than usual.
- Dryer indicator signal or warning light for lint filter stays on.
- Unexplained increase in utility bills.
- Clothes come out of the dryer really hot to the touch.
- Takes more than one cycle to dry the load.
- Unusual odors. especially a burning smell often described as burnt toast, smoke, or burnt hair.
- Lint behind, under, or around the dryer.
- Heating element burns out and/or the high-limit switch breaks.
- Visible lint stuck in the exterior wall vent or roof hood.
- Premature dryer failure.
- Exterior of the dryer cabinet is really hot.
- No lint on the lint trap filter after a drying cycle.
- A number code on your dryer such as D89, D90, or others.
- Water on the floor near the dryer.
COMMON ISSUES OFTEN DISCOVERED DURING INSPECTIONS:
- Stuck vent flapper.
- Dirty/clogged vent piping.
- Dryer has been pushed back too far and too close to the wall.
- Original or retrofit improper installations.
- Too many elbow bends.
- Too many feet (length) of pipe in combination with the amount of elbow bends.
- Crushed pipes.
- Disconnected pipes.
- Missing pipes.
- Substandard fire hazardous materials used for transitioning.
- Screws used to fasten connections. (against code).
